Shannon LaRay Hasty, born on November 30, 1971, in Corpus Christi, Texas, was the beloved daughter of Joseph Melloyd Hasty and Doris LaRay Hasty. As the oldest of three children, Shannon was born with special needs, but she never let her mental disability define her. Defying the odds, she lived a vibrant life to the age of 53, far surpassing the expectations set by doctors.

Shannon graduated from West Oso High School in 1996, where she enjoyed playing drums as a recreational activity. Known for her infectious smile, laughter, dance moves, and love of food, Shannon touched the lives of everyone she met.

She is preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her loving family, including her grandmother Lillian Louise Hasty, brother Jamal (Jaima) Hasty, sister Jasmine (Brian) Cary, nephews MJ Salud, Rizal Smith, Zarion Smith, Hunter Cary, Tyler Cary, and niece Lana Cary. She also leaves behind her aunts Rosa Hasty, Janice Taylor, and Marilyn Caldwell, along with numerous cousins and friends who cherished her dearly.
