Richard James Govea, affectionately known as Rick, was born on December 21, 1958, in Greenville, Michigan, and passed away on February 6, 2025, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was the beloved son of Luis S. Govea Sr. and Alicia M. Govea. Rick's life was a testament to his deep-rooted belief in family, love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. His infectious smile and overwhelming laughter left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Rick is survived by his two sons, Richard J. Govea and Jason G. Govea, and their mother, Debra A. Hatton. He is also survived by his sisters, Vivian Govea-De La Fuente (Catarino De La Fuente) and Norma J. Govea, as well as his nieces and nephews, including Manuel A. Govea, Elizabeth A. Govea-Mitchell, Julia K. Gomez, Luis S. Govea III, Rene J. Govea Sr., Laura J. Govea, and Roseanne Gomez. Rick was blessed with five great-grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luis S. Govea Sr. and Alicia M. Govea, and his brother, Luis S. Govea Jr. Rick's spirit will continue to inspire and uplift those who knew him, and his memory will be a blessing to all.

The family will receive friends at Saxet Funeral Home, 4001 Leopard St, Corpus Christi, TX 78408, on February 14, 2025, from 10am to 1pm. As Rick continues to worship Jesus in heaven, his light will forever shine brightly in our hearts.
