Lidia A.
Cantu
July 24, 1955 – May 14, 2026
Lidia A. Cantu (née Aguilar), born July 24, 1955, in Ganado, TX, peacefully passed away on May 14, 2026, in Pasadena, TX. She was a woman whose heart overflowed with love and generosity, touching the lives of everyone who knew her.
Lidia was truly a remarkable mother, grandmother, and friend. She carried the proud title of being the best in each role — a testament echoed by those whose lives she so lovingly nurtured. She was a heartfelt presence in her family’s life, raising not only her own children but also many of her nieces, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren with boundless care and devotion.
Known far and wide among friends and neighbors for her extraordinary culinary talents, Lidia’s cooking was legendary. Her kitchen was always filled with warmth and the tantalizing aromas of dishes prepared with love. Friends from all around the neighborhood would gather eagerly at her home, knowing there would be plenty for everyone. Even to this day, no one has been able to match the magic of her meals; her food was something “serious” and deeply cherished.
Beyond her incredible cooking, Lidia's hands crafted countless beautiful items. She was incredibly crafty, pouring creativity and passion into every piece she made. Her family enthusiastically supported her “hustle,” celebrating the artistry and skill she shared so freely.
Lidia’s life was a testament to strength and perseverance. In November, she suffered a stroke, marking the beginning of a challenging six-month battle. Despite this, she fought with unwavering courage and grace until she finally let go to be with our Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ.
She leaves behind her devoted sons: Rudy Cantu, her eldest; Oscar Cantu, her middle son; and Daniel Cantu, her youngest, who carry forward her legacy of love, kindness, and unrelenting spirit.
We also remember with tenderness those dear to Lidia who have gone before her: her father, Frank Aguilar; her mother, Maria Vasquez; and her beloved brothers, Isador Aguilar and Frank Aguilar Jr. Their memories live on in the family’s hearts.
A visitation will be held on May 25, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Saxet Funeral Home, located at 4001 Leopard St, Corpus Christi, TX 78408. A prayer service will follow on the same day from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location.
Lidia's life was a tapestry woven with love, creativity, and an incomparable spirit. Her imprint on this world will remain indelible, lived on by those fortunate enough to have known her warmth and kindness. Her memory will forever be a bright light guiding the hearts of her family and friends.
