It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Leonard Montes, who left this world on May 27, 2026, at just 57 years old after a courageous battle with Stage 4 colorectal cancer. Leonard was so much more than his illness. He was a devoted father, beloved brother, son, uncle, and friend whose kindness and compassion touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.

For 31 years, Leonard worked as a dedicated machine operator for Horton Automatics, where he worked tirelessly to provide for his family and build a life rooted in hard work, loyalty, and love. But Leonard’s greatest pride and joy were his two daughters, whom he loved more than anything else in this world. To know Leonard was to know how deeply he loved his girls. He spoke about them with pride, protected them fiercely, and carried their happiness in his heart every single day.

Leonard was the kind of man who would help anyone, even when he was struggling himself. He had one of the biggest hearts imaginable and was known for being compassionate, sincere, generous, and endlessly giving. He never hesitated to lend a hand, offer support, or show up for the people he loved. His kindness was genuine and selfless. He was also a huge jokester who loved making people laugh. Leonard had a playful spirit and was famous for his jokes and harmless pranks. No matter what life threw at him, he almost always had a smile on his face and found ways to bring joy to those around him. His laughter and sense of humor made difficult days lighter and ordinary moments unforgettable.

In 2023, Leonard was diagnosed with Stage 1 colorectal cancer. Like everything else in life, he faced it with strength, courage, and determination and successfully beat it. His family rejoiced in his recovery and looked forward to many more years together. Unfortunately, in early 2026, the cancer returned. Before doctors were able to catch it, it had metastasized to his lung. In March 2026, Leonard was diagnosed with Stage 4 colorectal cancer. Despite beginning chemotherapy and fighting with everything he had, the disease progressed quickly. After only two short months of treatment and battling this devastating illness, cancer took Leonard from us far too soon.

While our hearts are shattered by his loss, we find comfort knowing that Leonard is no longer suffering and is now resting peacefully in Heaven alongside his beloved sister, Maria Radke, and his mother, Rita Montes.
