Donnie L. Jackson of Corpus Christi passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026, at the age of 93. Don was a loving husband, father, uncle, brother, grandfather and friend. He was born June 29, 1932, to Orban L. and Callie Jackson in Taft, TX.

He graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1950 and served in the US Navy during the Korean War 1950-1954.The Navy was a great influence on his life as it taught him discipline and self-confidence. Also, he was able to work in metal smithing which he loved. Upon discharge he attended Del Mar College for a short while (math did him in!) and was then employed by Kenneth Whitlock welding. He then joined the Post Office as the pay was much higher at $1.82 per hour! He worked there until retirement.

He married Jaunda Shadle in 1956. A son David (Kevin) and daughter Kristy (Marshall) are the beloved children of this union. In 1994 he married his soulmate Cindy, and they enjoyed almost 32 years of marriage. He loved fishing, racing cars and auto mechanics. He enjoyed building special projects around the house including sewing, welding; just about anything but only after drawing a 3D picture of the plans!

Great neighbors include Jesse and Hilda Salas, Kathy Hawkins, Candy Sanchez and others. He was preceded in death by special friends Larry Crider and Jay Don Hewitt. Also, two awesome brothers Bill (Robbie) and Orban (Dorthy).

Survived by a special niece Nora (Mark) and their children Kayla and Sarah. One favorite grandson Thomas Roe and nieces and nephews Jeff, Philip (Kim), Patti and Tracy along with their children.

He gave his life to Christ at age 16 and the last song he sang was “Jesus Loves Me". May he rest in peace. A memorial service will be held at Coastal Bend Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
