Bennel Jackson, affectionately known as BJ, peacefully departed this life on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on January 12, 1944, in Corpus Christi, Bennel was the beloved daughter of Elois Evelyn Proctor and Benjamin Franklin Jackson. She was united in marriage and preceded in death by Armand Jarquin Jackson and was a devoted mother to Alecia Devette Anthony, Adrian DuAnn Jackson, Ashley Dushon Jackson (Clarissa), and Andrew David Jackson (Monique). One of her greatest joys was seeing all four of her children accept Christ at an early age and grow in their faith.

She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved grandchildren: Eron Dejon, Isaac Jay, Ashton DeAndre, Olivia Michelle, Daniel Dushon, Alexis Danyel, Alyssa Deidre, Brodrick Marlon, Avery Rae, and Justyce Alexah; along with her treasured great-grandchildren. She was also a beloved matriarch to her nieces and nephews.

Bennel was deeply loved by her siblings Waddell Dunmore (Patricia), Stanley Mack (Rita) and Roosevelt McKinney (Ann), who preceded her in death. She also leaves behind her cherished step-sisters Ruthie & Cheryal Caraway and Verter & Adrena Lewis.

A faithful servant of God, Bennel worshipped at St. Paul United Methodist Church, later accepted her calling into ministry at Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church, and faithfully served at Calvary 1st Baptist Church under Bishop C.E. Richardson, Sr.

Professionally, Bennel served compassionately as a Licensed Vocational Nurse before retiring. She was active in the community, serving in the Coles Alumni Association, the NAACP, and The Women’s Connection Ministry.

Minister Bennel Jackson leaves behind a lasting legacy of faith, love, encouragement, and service that will continue to live on through all who knew and loved her.
