Beatrice Anne Rodriguez "Sugar" Beatrice Anne Rodriguez, "Sugar" born on November 28, 1952, in Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away peacefully at the age of 71 on November 20, 2024.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Beatrice Grande Garza Rodriguez and Reyes Rodriguez Jr., both of Corpus Christi, Texas, and her brothers Albert Rodriguez (Austin, TX), Reyes Rodriguez III (Houston, TX), and Alfred Rodriguez (Austin, TX).

She is survived by her sister-in-law Eva Rodriguez, her nieces Laura Steinberg (Matt), Gina Thomas (Chris), Crystal Hocrath (Jeff), Carolina Rodriguez, and Shala Rodriguez; her nephews Alex Rodriguez (Luibov), Alfred Rodriguez (Jenny), and Gabriel Rodriguez (Evelia); and numerous beloved cousins.

Sugar earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Corpus Christi State University and a Master of Science in Counseling. She held several professional credentials, including Licensed Baccalaureate Social Worker (LBSW), Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), and Certified Criminal Justice Professional (CCJP).

Sugar dedicated over 40 years to serving her community through her work in mental health and addiction counseling. She provided compassionate care at Nueces County MHMR and later at Gulf Coast Rehabilitation as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. Her work included counseling adults and juveniles, supporting high-risk pregnant women, coordinating drug and alcohol education programs, and providing care for geriatric patients in residential facilities. Sugar was an active member of the South Texas Social Worker Society and an unwavering advocate for her clients.

A devout Roman Catholic, Sugar's faith was the foundation of her life. She was a lifelong parishioner of Corpus Christi's Sacred Heart Church and was known for her deep spirituality and openness in discussing her faith. She offered prayers, support, and a listening ear to anyone in need.

Sugar was a gifted musician who played the piano, guitar, and banjo, frequently sitting in with friends to play. She will greatly be missed.
