Alex Martinez Sr., age 60, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away on September 2, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 2, 1966, in Corpus Christi and raised in Chapman Ranch, where his roots, hard work, and love for family helped shape the man he would become.
When he was a child Alex loved to box and throughout his life, he became known as a hardworking farmer and a true jack of all trades. He worked for the Albrecht family in Petronila, TX, and with many others throughout the surrounding areas. During cotton and corn season, he drove the cotton picker, and during grain season, he operated the combine. His dedication to his work and his ability to fix just about anything made him someone others could always count on.
Alex loved fishing, hunting, construction, barbecuing, and working on all kinds of mechanical projects. He was a true barbecue pit master and took pride in his handiwork. Whenever family or friends needed help, Alex was there, always willing to lend a hand and share his skills. As a devoted Houston Texans fan, a true highlight of his life was at a Texans game, when he, Diana, and his nephew, Joe Morris, stood alongside fellow cancer survivors and families to hold a massive American flag during the national anthem for Pink Ribbon Day at NRG Stadium. He was a compassionate soul and loved making lifelong memories with his family and friends.
Alex met the love of his life, Diana Padron Martinez, and together they shared 41 years of marriage, friendship, and countless memories. They were each other’s best friends and built a beautiful family together. Alex and Diana raised their children in Petronila, Texas, creating a home filled with love and lasting memories. Some of their favorite moments were spent fishing together, listening to music by the water, and dancing to Tejano and Conjunto music. Their love and the life they built together will forever remain a part of their family’s story.
Alex was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, Tio, cousin, and friend. His generous heart, hardworking spirit, sense of humor, and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. His legacy will live on through the family he cherished, the memories he created, and the many lives he touched.
Alex is survived by his children, DeAnna Alexsandra Martinez (Mark Anthony Edwards) and Alex Martinez Jr. (Amanda Uribe); his beloved grandchildren, Sky-Lynn Marie Brooks (Kayleb Brooks), Jamie Joe Escamilla II, Jamison Lee Escamilla, Jaylynn Ann Escamilla, Marc Anthony Edwards II, Marocco Kash Edwards, and Maddex Lincoln Edwards; and his great-grandchildren, Jaxon Ray Brooks and Amelia Rose Brooks. He is also survived by his mother, Maria “Keta” Martinez; his brothers, Rudy Martinez and Ricky Martinez; his sister, Norma Jean Martinez; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Alex is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Diana Padron Martinez; daughter, Ruby Ann Rogers; granddaughter, Madison Anne Serna; father, Juan “JJ” Martinez; and brothers, Johnny Martinez and Robert Alvino Martinez.
Serving as pallbearers are Alex Martinez Jr., Rudy Martinez, Joe Morris De Ases, Michael Cerda, Paul Vela, Frank Garza, Ruben Recio, and Richard Recio.
Honorary pallbearers are Marocco Kash Edwards, Maddex Lincoln Edwards, and Jaxon Ray Brooks.
A heartfelt thank you to all our family and friends who have reached out and shown their love, kindness, and support during this difficult time. Your thoughtfulness and generosity mean more to us than words can express.
Alex will be deeply missed; the love he gave, the lessons he taught, the laughter he shared, and the memories he leaves behind will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. His hands may be at rest, but the work of his life lives on through the family he built, the people he helped, and the love he left behind.
Forever loved, forever remembered, and never forgotten.
